Cynthia Mae Craven, age 74 of Granby, Missouri, passed away at her home on Friday, January 20, 2017.
Cynthia was born February 15, 1942 in East Meadow, New York to the late Nicholas Wyder and Muriel Hogan Wyder. She graduated from East Meadow High and then received her Master's Degree from New Paltz University. Cynthia was a long time educator throughout Newton County, working for Wheaton, Seneca, Neosho and other schools throughout her career. For the last 13 years, Cynthia was working for Preferred Family Healthcare as an In Home Health Service Support Staff. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Granby. During her free time, Cynthia enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and enjoying all sorts of animals, especially birds and horses. She was also an avid reader and writer.
Surviving Cynthia are a son, Kenneth J. Craven and wife, Rhonda of Neosho; daughters, Kimberly A. Judd and husband, Marcus of Granby and Janine A. Craven and husband, Fred of Joplin; brother, Richard Wyder of Geneva, Ohia; six grandchildren, Cassidi, Kaitlyn, Rachel, Chance, Nick and Makenna plus a great grandchild, Dexter.
Other than her parents, she is also preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Casey.
A memorial visitation is planned for Wednesday, January 25 from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
My 3rd grade teacher in St. JAMES NY. Miss Wydur would take us to the stables where she boarded her horse Shalamar. With fond memories of a loving and generous person.
