Juanita Spalding

Juanita Irene Spalding, age 90, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Juanita was born June 26, 1926 in Nevada, Missouri, daughter of the late Miles Lee and Pearl Mabry Lee. She lived in Scott City, Missouri for many years, and worked as a presser for several cleaners including Ken's Cleaner of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Bohannon's Cleaners of Scott City, Empire Cleaners and Wright Cleaners of Joplin. She worked for over 50 years in this profession. She was a member of General Baptist Church of Scott City.

She married Robert Spalding on January 8, 1973 in Cape Girardeau; he preceded her in death on November 17, 2006. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margueriette Stradley.

Survivors include her "grandchildren", Jody Burgess and wife Tina of Joplin, and Vicky Parks of Centennial, Colorado; seven great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary with burial of her ashes at a later date next to her husband and parents in Lightner Cemetery, Scott City, Missouri.
