Deborah Kathleen Edmonds, age 60, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2017, in Springfield, Missouri. Debbie was born in Wheaton, Missouri to James Mert Joel and Margaret Orr (Mortensen) Joel on January 31, 1956.
She attended East Newton High School and graduated in 1974. She went on to earn two degrees from Southwest Missouri State University in 1977. She worked at Custom Metalcraft for the last 17 years.
Debbie's parents, Mert and Margaret and two brothers Hugh and Jimmy Joel preceded Debbie in death.
Debbie is survived by her partner of 17 years, Rick Jackson; her only daughter Lauren Ice and husband Kelsey; her sisters Doreen Agee, Lois Weems, Joanna Kenyon, Pat Baker, Carolyn Smith, and Margaret Weber; and brother Neal Joel; she is survived by countless nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends, and her beloved cat Sammie.
Debbie enjoyed laying out in the sun, gardening, traveling, and drinking coffee. Known to many as Aunt Debbie, she had the best sense of humor and could brighten up any room. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and she was very excited about the upcoming birth of her first grandchild.
Debbie will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10 A.M. at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home with services being held at 11 A.M. at the same location. Burial will be held in Dice Cemetery, Fairview, MO at 3 P.M.
