Cecil G. “Gene” Cofield, age 87, of Lamar, passed away early Monday morning, January 23, 2017, at Comfort Care Homes of Pittsburg, Kansas.
Gene was born March 21, 1929 in Bardwell, Texas to James Gilliam and Mary Ethel (Vise) Cofield. On July 16, 1949, he married Alice Faye Franks and together they raised three children. Gene retired as a heavy construction project manager for H.B Zachry Construction after 33 years. He purchased a farm near Milford, Missouri in 1964, where he raised cattle and crops.
Gene is survived by one son; Keith and his wife Debbie, Henderson, Texas; two daughters, Tina and her husband Kenny Sims, Nixa, Missouri and Cynthia and her husband Eric Lawrence, Lamar, Missouri; one brother, Terry, and his wife Carol Cofield; seven grandchildren, Rusty McClenan, CJay McClenan, Kracinda Sims, Kee Sims, Chelsey Moore, Austin Lawrence, and Ethan Lawrence; eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Faye in 2003, his parents, three brothers, E.J, James, and Edward Cofield.
Graveside service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Howell Cemetery, Milford with Pastor Mark Garfield officiating.
The family will receive friend 11:00 to 12:15 am Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home.
