Peggy N. Gouverneur passed away January 15, 2017, at the age of 81. Born August 4, 1935 to Andrew and Inez Boles in Koshkonong, MO., she was one of five children. Peg is preceded in death by her father, mother, and infant brother, Ronald Dean Boles.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Governeur of Carthage, sister, Loretta Beatty, Virginia Beach, VA., brother, Jack Boles (Glenda), Springfield, sister, Lynn O’Toole, Walnut Grove, son, Howie Lindeman, and daughter, Kelli Stinebrook (Doug), both of Carthage. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews.
She grew up Methodist and later attended Lutheran churches where she taught Sunday School, enjoyed singing in the church choir, and was passionate in her faith.
Peg co-owned a children’s clothing store in her early retail years. She later worked in advertising at Ramsay’s Department Store, and followed her passion of style and fashion at Belk Simpson Department Store, VanPerk’s boutique, sales consultant at Kassab’s, buyer at Lifestyles Ladies Fashions, and later owned and operated LaPeg’s Specialty Dress Stores, in Carthage and Joplin.
Peg grew up in a very musically talented family and loved singing, dancing, enjoyed music and piano, of which she played a beautiful rendition of The Missouri Waltz. She will be remembered as having a good time, a sense of humor, and a classy style of fashion.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 21, 2017 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to services from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 21, 2017. Burial will be at Park Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Carthage Humane Society in care of Ulmer funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
