Billy Yust

William Gene “Billy” Yust, age 63, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday morning, January 9, 2017, at Freeman Hospital West.

Billy was born on September 4, 1953, in Joplin, Missouri, to the union of William Henry and Lorene Geneva Yust. He was raised in Miami, Oklahoma, where he attended the Sunnydale School, graduating in 1970. Billy moved to Joplin with his parents in the early 90s and he resided here the remainder of his life. With his parents, he attended services at the Generations Free Will Baptist Church in Joplin. Billy loved visiting theme parks, including Silver Dollar City, Disney World and Disneyland. He also loved to travel and camp with his family. Billy’s most prized possession was his large collection of diecast model cars and trucks, which he collected for over 50 years. He was greatly treasured by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews as he was a fantastic uncle to all of them. Billy will be remembered for his contagious happiness and his humor. He was truly a lover of people and he was loved by all that knew him. 

Survivors include his parents, Henry and Lorene Yust, of Joplin; two sisters, Linda Moneymaker and husband, John, of Springfield, Missouri, and Sandra Roark and husband, Duane, of Louisburg, Kansas; four nieces and nephews, Ryan Moneymaker and wife, Lenessa, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Tarah Allmon and husband, Jason, of La Quinta, California, DeeLayne Roark of Louisville, Kentucky, and Jarrod Roark and wife, Jessica, of Kansas City, Kansas; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as many friends.

Graveside services for Billy will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Jerald Bass officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. Online condolences may be sent through our website www.thornhilldillon.com.
