Elizabeth Ellen Garduno, age 51, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 20, 2017.
Elizabeth was born on May 20, 1965 in DeKalb County, Georgia, to Preston and Dortha (Estes) Bennett, where she was raised and attended school. During her childhood, she and her parents moved to Peru for a short period of time. Elizabeth attended college and received her Associate Degree from AIU. She greatly valued education as she was always very eager to learn. She was educated in various areas, including human resource management and she had even studied to become a licensed travel agent. Elizabeth enjoyed puzzles, computer games, her daily coffee, animals and most importantly, her grandkids. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her spunky sense of humor.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, Dortha Bennett; and two cats, Buddy and Sassy.
Survivors include her daughter, Rose Pequignot, and husband, Zakk, of Joplin, Missouri; her significant other, Michael Schmitt, also of Joplin; her father, Preston Bennett, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; one brother, Phillip Bennett, also of Lawrenceville; sister-in-law, Donna Bennett; four grandchildren, Nevaeh, Averie, Jaret and Jenna; as well as two cats and a dog, Kratos, Dawg and Jorge.
Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Joplin Humane Society to honor Elizabeth’s love for animals. Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website www.thornhilldillon.com.
