Bill Worthington

William B. “Bill” Worthington, age 73, of Carl Junction, Mo., passed away on Saturday January 7, 2017, following an illness.

Bill was born on September 22, 1943 in Nowata, Ok., the son of the late Boyd and Ruth Vivian (Mills) Worthington. He graduated from Ozark Bible College in 1967, now Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Mo. Later he received a Master’s degree in Theology from Cincinnati Bible Seminary. Bill devoted his life to preaching and teaching the Word of God. He was the minister at the Church of Christ in Crookston, Mn., Ravenwood Christian Church Ravenwood, Mo., First Christian Church Lone Wolf, Ok., Park Plaza Christian Church in Joplin, and most recently, Dudman Springs Church in Sarcoxie, Mo. He attended Christ’s Church of Oronogo until his most recent illness. He spent his life sharing the love of God through baptizing, calling on the sick, and ministering to those in need.

Bill married Janice Cannon on June 11, 1967 in Sidney, Ia., and she survives. Also surviving are their children; son, Matt Worthington and wife Renee, Webb City, Mo.; three daughters, Abbie Lance and husband Steven, Webb City, Mo., Stephanie Smith and husband Travis, Oronogo, Mo., and Phoebe Worthington, Carl Junction, Mo.; brother, Jerry Worthington, Austin, Texas; sister, Jan Nutt, Texas; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Annette Worthington and Mary Ruth Turner.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Christ’s Church of Oronogo. Peter Buckland, will officiate with Joe Garman assisting.

The visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. To be interred at Osborne Cemetery in Joplin at a private ceremony, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to Christ In Youth, Good News Productions, or Ozark Christian College in care of the mortuary.
