Bobbi Buckmaster, 70, Carthage, MO, lost her battle with ALS on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at her home. Roberta “Bobbi” Bigley was born December 1, 1946 in Ransom, KS to Bob and Joyce Bigley. After graduating from Vinita High School in 1965, Bobbi joined the United States Air Force. She served at McGuire AFB in New Jersey and Hickam AFB in Hawaii.
Bobbi continued her education after the Air Force and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Oklahoma State University. She taught school in the Olive Public School system.
In June of 1980, Bobbi married Larry Buckmaster in Mannford, OK. They traveled to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia where Larry was employed in the marine seismic industry with Geophysical Services, Inc (a subsidiary of Texas Instruments). They also lived in St. John’s Newfoundland while living and working in Canada. After returning to the states, they purchased a farm in Carthage, MO. Bobbi loved the farm, gardening, and the outdoors.
Bobbi is survived by her husband, Larry, one daughter, Ashley Buckmaster (John Banks) and her grandson, Austin West; Carthage, MO; her mother, Joyce Bigley, Carthage, MO; one brother, David Bigley (wife Lori), Norman, OK; and a step-daughter, Tamara Patterson (husband Don), and their children Chloe and Justin, Miami, OK.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Bob Bigley, her sister, Charlotte Summerlin, her brother, Dr. Rollie Jack Bigley, and a niece, Stephanie Martinez.
Visitation will be held 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2017 at Knell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Grace Pointe Assembly of God, 1605 S. Baker Blvd, Carthage, MO. Interment will follow the service at Bluejacket Cemetery, Bluejacket, OK. Memorial gifts are suggested to Samaritan’s Purse in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W.
