Scott Anderson

Mr. August Scott Anderson, 83, of Tiff City, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, June 1, 2020, in the comfort of his home after a recent decline in health.

Scott entered this life on November 17, 1936, in rural Stanley, Kansas, born to the union of the late Clarence Leroy and Ruth (Harmon) Anderson. He was raised and attended school in Stanley, Kansas.

On December 28, 1962, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Sylvia Crum and together they have shared the last fifty-seven years. They resided in Overland Park and Louisburg, Kansas before moving to Anderson, Missouri in 1977. For several years he was a Realtor specializing in commercial real estate and was licensed in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. 

Upon moving to Anderson he made the decision to become a fulltime rancher, a career he thoroughly enjoyed. He was passionate about KU Basketball, attending his grandchildren’s activities, cooking, fishing, arrowhead hunting and providing business consulting advice. Scott was a member of the Buffalo Creek Baptist Church in Tiff City and was a Veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gayle Turnley; and three brothers, Leroy, Lowell and Clarence.








Scott is survived by his wife, Sylvia Anderson of the home; nine children, Rose Turnley of Madison, Wisconsin, Sonya Hancock of Tiff City, Sofia Hurley (Kevin) of Pineville, Dawn Morley (Steve) of Monett, Terry Anderson of Los Angeles, California, Douglas Anderson (Christy) of Taneyville, Missouri, Tim Anderson of Anderson, Sarah Smith of Neosho and Jeremy Anderson (Tish) of Monett; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three brothers, David Anderson of Drexel, Missouri, Eddie Anderson of Harrisonville, Missouri and Emmett Anderson of Archie, Missouri; five sisters, Marguerite Turnley of Pineville, Editha Propst of Olathe, Kansas, Mary Ellen Jesse of Paola, Kansas, Dorothy Wheat of Springhill, Kansas and Ada Jane Anderson of Olathe, Kansas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Scott will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Buffalo Creek Baptist Church in Tiff City, Missouri with Justin Steadman, Joshua Manning and Jared Procter officiating. Burial will follow in the Cummings Cemetery. 

 Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Dylan Smith, Nathan Anderson, Colten Anderson, Michael Morley, Aaron Morley and Jeremiah Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Austin McLean, Matthew Johnston, Jacob Morley, Phillip Bentz, Michael Abruzzo and Collin Randles. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are being directed to Holt International c/o the funeral home.
