Bonnie Lewis

Mrs. Bonnie Dean Lewis, 78, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022 at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center.

Bonnie entered this life on January 7, 1944 in Stella, Missouri, to the union of the late Illus Homer and Evelyn Anthony (Dabbs) Gailey. She was a graduate of Stella High School. 

On June 29, 1962 she was united in marriage to Roy Leon Lewis at Sweetwater Baptist Church. Together they shared fifty-nine years of memories. 








She furthered her education and received her Bachelor’s Degree in 1969 and Master’s Degree in 1979 from Southwest Missouri University. She taught school for a number of years in the Sarcoxie School District. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sarcoxie. Bonnie will truly be missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Betty Haddock, Bill Gailey, Kenneth Jones, Ernest Dean Jones and Bertha Farley.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Roy Lewis; children, Nancy Flack and husband, Michael of Joplin and Philip Lewis and wife, Laura also of Joplin; grandchildren, Jordan Flack, Hannah Flack, Ty Lewis and Luke Lewis; siblings, her twin sister, Donna Jean Barnett and husband, Charles, Patsy JoAnn Whittset and Georgia Turner; many nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis are 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Sarcoxie, with Pastor Todd Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Hazelgreen Cemetery, Boulder City, Missouri. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Tom Wilson, Ed Hamm, Dean Havill, Ed Sommer, Gregory Seedorf and David Robertson.
