Charlie Meier

Charles Arthur “Charlie” Meier, age 88, of Neosho, Missouri passed away Monday, February 27, 2023 at Oak Pointe of Neosho in Neosho, Missouri.

He was born December 29, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Lawrence and Francis (Sheehan) Meier. 

On December 29, 1954 he was united in marriage to Kay Helen Kennedy, who preceded him in death on March 25, 2016. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Daniel Meier and one brother, Paul Meier.








Surviving are one son, Gary Meier and his wife Dee of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; one daughter, Susan Judy and her husband Dan of Neosho, Missouri; six grandchildren, Michael Bumgarner, Amanda Simpson, Patric Bumgarner Bret Meier, Sydnie Cannon and Amanda Knight and five great-grandchildren.

Charlie grew up and attended school in Spring Hill, Kansas graduating from Spring Hill High School, later attending Kansas State University where he attained a degree in accounting. Charlie joined the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. He and Kay were married during his stay in the military, they were first stationed in Chicago, Illinois for two years and then in Newfoundland where they were also stationed for two years. 

Upon returning to the United States they lived in Lee’s Summit, Missouri where he was employed by Western Electric for over thirty years from where he retired in 1989. After retiring they moved to Shell Knob, Missouri and in 2021 he moved to Neosho, Missouri. 








Charlie enjoyed fishing, gardening, especially tending his roses, traveling, playing with the grandkids at the lake, walking his dog, Maverick, being an usher and was a Huge KU Jayhawks fan. He was very active as well as a long-standing member at Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob. Charlie, the best Dad and Grandpa was loved by all and has left Wonderful memories to be held forever in our hearts. We will miss him dearly but a part of him will always be with us.

Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Monday, March 6, 2023 at Central Community United Methodist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Bill Kenagy will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be at Lake Park Memorial Gardens in Shell Knob, Missouri.

Contributions may be made to Central Community United Methodist Church in memory of Charlie.
