(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Louis R. Troyer, 76, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Louis was born July 17, 1946, in rural Vernon County, just outside of El Dorado Springs, Missouri to Earl Raymond Troyer and Blanch Louise (Ring) Troyer.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years before going into law enforcement. Louis worked at Nevada Police Department Dispatch after his time in the Navy. He then accepted a position with Jasper County Sheriff’s Department January 1, 1974, as a Deputy.
At his time of retirement, he was Sergeant of the Warrant Division. Louis professed his faith in God in the Baptist church. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Missouri Sheriff’s Association.
Louis was united in marriage to Nancy Kennedy December 21, 1973, at their pastor’s home in El Dorado Springs, Missouri; she survives.
Louis is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Troyer; a sister, Marlys Berens of Hudsonville, Michigan; and four nephews.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Blanch Troyer.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Caplinger Mills Cemetery, north of Stockton, Missouri. Open visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Ulmer Funeral Home.
