Dave Junghans

William David Junghans, age 85, of Joplin, Missouri, recently residing near family in St. Charles, Missouri, passed away on July 29, 2023, due to a short illness.

Dave was born in Fulton, Missouri, grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri, and spent most of his adult life in Joplin, Missouri. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force. Dave was an entrepreneur; he and his brother opened their first KFC in Joplin, MO, in December 1965. He went on to own several businesses, most recently Southwestern Signs of Joplin. Dave actively served in church throughout his life and was passionate about leading people to know Jesus.







He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sherry Junghans, their children Dave Junghans of Madison, Alabama, Wayne(Joan) Junghans of Cypress, Texas, Susan (John) Machnica of Madison, Alabama, Kim (Tim) Bankston of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Jeremy (Jennifer) Junghans of Saint Charles, Missouri, his sister Marilyn(Ken) Kemper of Glendale, Arizona, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by his parents William H. and Elizabeth Junghans, his brother Robert Junghans and daughter-in-law Kim Junghans.








A small family service will be held in St. Charles, Missouri. Dave was well loved and will be dearly missed.
