(From Parker Mortuary)Russell Lee Spencer, 69, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital on July 31, 2023, with his family by his side. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be sorely missed.
Russ was born to the late William (Bill) Spencer and Violet Spencer. Russell was raised in Joplin and graduated from Parkwood High School, where he was active in basketball, baseball, and running track.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life Terri (Weeks) Spencer, and they shared 47 years together.
Russell retired from the trucking industry, formerly having worked for Henson Heavy Haul, Snyder Bridge/Construction, and Fleming Foods.
He is survived by his wife Terri Spencer and sons Travis Spencer (Tara) and Kris Spencer (Katelyn), sister Pam England, brothers Greg Spencer and Dennis Spencer, and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and his nephew.
As per Russell’s request, no funeral service will be held, but a celebration of life will be announced later.
Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
