David West

David Lee West, age 78, Joplin, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at a local nursing center.

David was born April 28, 1945 in Joplin, son of the late Ruby and Margaret (Snoody) West. He grew up in Joplin and graduated from Joplin High School in 1963 before moving to Kansas City where he attended the University of Missouri Kansas City. He sold insurance in Kansas City, Indianapolis, IN, and then in North Carolina before returning to Joplin in 1983. 

He was owner of A & D Auto Body Shop in Webb City for years before beginning For Your Pet’s Sake Boarding and Grooming. He has been involved with the breeding and training of German Short Hair Pointer Dogs for years. He enjoyed his time with his dogs, both training and hunting with them over the years. He was a member of the Joplin Field Trial Association, and was also a member of the Community of Christ Church in Joplin where he served as a Church Elder.

David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Alicia (Grossman) West; children, Ryan West (Dot), Thomas West (Karen), Joshua Butterfield (Jo), and Matthew Hakes (Heidee); grandchildren, Ryan, Sierra, Hadlee, Hudson, and Crosby; a sister, Carolyn Broshears (Frank) of Alamo, TX.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Community of Christ Church, 1212 Goetz Blvd, Joplin from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Joplin Field Trial Association care of Parker Mortuary.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
