Rick Jones

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Ricky Eugene Jones, known affectionately as Rick, age 70, passed away after a long battle with his health on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in the comfort of his home in Jane, Missouri. Born on June 4, 1953, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Rick's life was a testament of hard work and integrity.

Rick was a graduate of Argentine High School in Kansas City, Kansas, class of 1971 where he had an outstanding sports career.

His work ethic was evident from a young age, starting with Safeway Bakery, then with Quality Markets and JK Petroleum, and would continue throughout his successful career. His most notable tenure was with Nabholz Construction, where he began as a heavy equipment operator for Northwest Excavation, a division of Nabholz, in the fall of 1995. In 2000, his grit and determination earned him the role of superintendent and he reluctantly retired as General Superintendent in 2019.

Rick is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pam (Shinn) Jones. Additional survivors include his two children, Amy Rogers and her husband, Eric, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Michelle Huddleston and her husband, Jeremey, of Jane, Missouri; six grandchildren, Dr. Emily Rogers, Hunter Rogers, and Trenton, Landon, Carli, and Lucas Huddleston; two great-grandchildren, Gabe and Lily Schneider; a sister, Pamela Heffley and husband, Steve, of Basehor, Kansas; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claborne and LaDonna (Kleppe) Jones; his son, Trevor Jones; and his father and mother-in-law, David, and Mary Evelyn Shinn.

Rick's life reflected the things he valued most: his family and his work. He was a creature of habit, starting each day with a strong pot of coffee and a Winston light, intently focused on the tasks ahead. He was a man of strength, courage, and honesty. The wisdom he shared will continue having an immeasurable impact, providing guidance that will be used and shared by many.

Memorial services are 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri with Chaplain Danny Mullins officiating along with Billy Weber delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to Compassus Hospice c/o the funeral home.
