(From Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home)Robert “Butch” Wayne Rathmann, 69, of Mount Vernon, Missouri, went to his Heavenly home on March 27, 2024. Robert was born on January 23, 1955, to Thomas and Betty (Snadon) Rathmann in Monett, Missouri.
After graduating from Mount Vernon High School in 1973, he went to work for Blevins Asphalt in Mt. Vernon for 48 years. After his years there he went to work for Justmish Enterprises in Carthage, Missouri.
Robert is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lynna (Eckert) Rathmann. His four children, Amber Hudson and husband, Dustin of Stotts City, Chance Rathmann and wife, Alisha of Mount Vernon, Heather Campbell and husband, Casey of Mount Vernon, Ethan Rathmann, and wife, Krista of Mount Vernon. Six grandchildren, Emma Hudson, Payton Campbell, Jaelyn Campbell, Laney Hudson, Lily Rathmann and Colton Rathmann. Mother, Betty Rathmann of Mount Vernon. Sister, Elaine Spradling. Brothers, Jack (Celia) Rathmann, Thomas Dale (Carla) Rathmann, and Johnny Paul (Connie) Rathmann. Father and Mother-in-law, Linsey and Susie Eckert of Mt. Vernon and mother-in-law, Orvilyn Nottle. Sister-in-laws, Anissa (Patrick) McSpadden and Rachel Eckert. Bonus daughter/niece, Chelsey (Devin) Greenwood. A host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other close relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Thomas Rathmann.
Robert’s greatest blessings in life were his wife, kids and grandkids. He also counted it as an honor to step in and be a Dad to his son-in-law’s and daughter-in-law’s that lost theirs.
He would always jump at the chance to lend a hand where needed, if you called and needed help, he was on the way or finding a way to get you what you needed, especially if you needed something off Facebook marketplace; he liked finding those good deals.
All through his life he worked hard and played hard. He loved his hobbies whether that be Tractor Pulling in his Allis-Chalmers, Team Penning on Socks, Trail Riding on Jack a Dandy while camping with friends or watching the Chuck Wagon races at the OF Ranch in Clinton, Arkansas. He loved his Ford trucks in the driveway and his Peterbilt’s at work.
Robert was just a good ol’ cowboy. He will be leaving a giant void in the lives of his loved ones left on this side of Heaven. He loved his family and friends fiercely, but the favorite title he held was Papa. That was a common topic at family get togethers as to how much of a softy he became after he was promoted to Papa.
Thank you, Cowboy, for the laughs, life lessons, precious memories, but most of all for loving us.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow at the Summit Cemetery northeast of Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2024, in the funeral home chapel.
