Dorothy McMillen

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Dorothy Geneva McMillen, aged 89, passed away on March 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.

She was born on February 21, 1935, to William and Lillie Lay in Clinton, AR. Dorothy devoted her life to creating a loving and nurturing home for her family.

As a homemaker, she poured her heart into caring for her loved ones, and her delicious cooking brought joy to all who gathered around her table. She had a passion for quilting and crocheting, creating beautiful works of art with her skilled hands. Family was paramount to Dorothy, and she treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love knew no bounds, and she leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and devotion.

Dorothy found companionship and love with Oran Ford McMillen, whom she married on July 2, 1980, in Miami, OK.

She is survived by Oran and her children, Michael Thomas of Granby, MO, and Larry Thomas of Diamond, MO, her thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and siblings Daniel Lay, James Lay, Jerry Lay, Kenneth Lay, Violet Gutherie, and Glenda Birdsong.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her children Donna Semore, Steven Thomas, and Kathy Thomas, a granddaughter and numerous brothers and sisters.

Dorothy will be laid to rest at Mt. Olive Cemetery following a funeral service at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Clark Funeral Home Granby Chapel in Granby, MO. Pastor Doug Gripka will officiate the service, offering words of comfort and remembrance. Prior to the service, visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.

As we gather to celebrate Dorothy's life, may we find solace in the memories we shared with her and the love she shared so generously with everyone around her. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will continue to live on in our hearts forevermore.
