(From Parker Mortuary)E. Deanie Myers, age 88, of Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Deanie was born on December 4, 1935, in Galena, KS, to the late union of Audie and Martha (Tash) McDonald. She attended Galena High School. She then went on to work for Pacific Mercury, LaBarge, Ducommun Performance Center, Walmart, and co-owning a bowling alley for 3 years.
She married David “Dave” Myers on October 31, 1980, in Miami, OK.
Together they were blessed with 43 years of marriage before Deanie’s passing. They loved taking vacations during the summertime, laughing and telling jokes with each other, and spending time at their lake home in Grove, OK. She enjoyed playing softball, bowling, water skiing, boating, camping, watching birds, going to St. Louis Cardinals games, and traveling. She was an avid animal lover, especially her dogs. Deanie was a faithful servant of the Lord and attended Assembly of God in Grove, OK for 18 years before moving to Joplin.
In addition to her parents, Deanie was preceded in death by three siblings, Harvey McDonald, Neville Driscoll, and Harlan McDonald.
Deanie is survived by her husband, Dave Myers, of the home; three children, Steve Walkenshaw and wife, Diane, of Carl Junction, Sheila Walkenshaw and boyfriend, Scott King, of Joplin, and Kim Selby and husband, Steve, of Joplin; six grandchildren, Ty Walkenshaw and wife, Erin, Craig Walkenshaw and wife, Erin, Brook McMullen and husband, Jeremy, Ashley Bentley and boyfriend, Rodney Lester, Dane Bell and fiancé, Christina, and Stevie Villamizar and husband, David; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Millie West, Jeanie Harsh, Shirley Cox; and one brother, Neal McDonald.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made out to the Joplin Humane Society in honor of Deanie.
There will be a Celebration of Life Visitation held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
