Dennis Rodgers

Dennis Lee Rodgers, age 76, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 11:05 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center, in Mt. Vernon. He was born September 4, 1947, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of the late Melvin Lee and Lavina (Sifferman) Rodgers.

Dennis was a 1965 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and worked for Zenith Corporation in Springfield, Missouri, for over 20 years and did remodeling and construction work. He was a member of the Shriners and attended Sac River Cowboy Church in Springfield, Missouri.

On March 18, 1988, he married Virginia Ann Pierce, in Springfield, Missouri.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 36 years, Virginia; eight children, Angie Rodgers, Marty Rodgers and his wife, Tiffany, and Klista Davis, all of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; Andrea Askren and her husband, Ralph, of Strafford, Missouri, Shelly Gutierrez and her husband, Benny, of Salado, Texas, Hollie Gaddy and her husband, Grant, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, Benjamin Carr and his wife, Carrie, of Aurora, Missouri, and William Carr and his wife, Amber, of Carthage, Missouri; one sister, Genine Rodgers, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Ruckman Cemetery northeast of Mt. Vernon. Arrangements are under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon.
