(From Simpson Funeral Home)Kay Lynn (Minear) Newby, age 72, died on March 14, 2024 after a short illness. Kay was born on October 27, 1951 in Unionville, Putnam County, MO, and was the daughter of James Luzill Minear and Mable Maxine Robbins Minear. She graduated high school there and attended Missouri University at Columbia for 1 1/2 years.
Kay spent most of her adult life in Jasper and Newton county, working for over 30 years in finance and bookkeeping, retiring in 2015. She loved her family and friends, and was deeply attached to the outdoors and her pets.
In 1981, Kay married Gale Edward Newby of Webb City, MO. She is survived by Gale; a brother Lyle James Minear; stepson Rob Newby and wife Cathy; grandchildren Nathan and Alexis; nieces Kimberly (Minear) Colbruno and family, and Megan (Minear) Wilson and family; cousins Lloyd E. Couchman and wife Karen and Kevin E. Minear and wife Tracy; a second-cousin Brittany Minear; as well as many other Minear and Newby family members and friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Fon and Galena Minear and Marion and Gyneth Robbins, nephew Lyle James Minear and great-nephew Travis J. Todd, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services in honor of Kay's life will be held 10am on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City with Chaplain Kyle Beverlin officiating with graveside services to follow at Carl Junction Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the same venue. Contributions in Kay's memory may be made to the Faithful Friends Animal Shelter in Neosho, or any animal shelter, in care of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
