Barbra Sue "Barb" Lair, age 82, Joplin, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Freeman West Hospital.
Barb was born October 8, 1932 in Split Log, Missouri, daughter of the late Paul Kingsbury Jackson and Delpha Juanita Cravens Jackson. She attended Neosho Schools, and worked at Ben Franklin in Neosho through high school where she graduated in 1945, and was a member of the 4 H and FHA.
In 1950, she married Robert R. Lair at the age of 18. She followed his military career taking them to Vallejo, California. After his discharge, they returned to Missouri. She had a beautiful family of five children while working for St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, and later St. John's in Joplin, and Sale Hospital in Neosho as a nurse's aide. She also worked for the Corral Drive In in Neosho for over 20 years. For the last six months, Barb has been a resident at Spring River Christian Village.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Lair in 2006; children, James Lair, Juanita Lair, and Patty Kelly; a sister, Artie Vance, and a great-grandchild Jacquelin Aguilera.
Survivors include her children, Pamela Whitlow and husband David of Joplin, Sandy Fuentes and husband Danny of Duson, Louisiana; grandchildren, Travis Lair, Abbey Crespo and husband Ismael, Melissa Aguilera and husband Antonio, Zach Lair, Jennifer Parker and husband Ray, Kristin Turner and husband T.J., Megan Rodriquez and husband Gumercindo, and Kylee Lair; nieces, Rennie Moffett and husband Doug, and Tammy Yost and husband Jeff; 11 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Barb's wishes were to be cremated, and for her family and friends to gather and have a celebration of her life on Sunday, November 9, 2014 starting at 2:00 p.m. at her daughter's home at 408 Morgan Court in Joplin.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
