Mr. Carl Franklin Coleman, 66, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after months of declining health.
Carl entered this life on October 5, 1948, in Carthage, Missouri, son of the late Joner Dyer and Mildred (Ayers) Coleman. He was raised in Oronogo, Missouri and was a 1966 graduate of Webb City High School. Directly after high school he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from September 11, 1967 to April 21, 1970. On November 5, 1971, he was united in marriage to Martha Anne Brown and to this union a son and daughter were born. Carl had worked as foreman for both Rex Metallic Casket Company and Morton Booth, both located in Webb City. His last employment was with Hi-Lo Table in Chanute, Kansas, where he served as plant manager. Carl was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha Anne Coleman on June 23, 2011; and two brothers, Larry and Robert Coleman.
Carl is survived by his two children, Rusty Coleman of Joplin, Missouri and Jennifer Coleman and fiancé, Brian Starchman, also of Joplin; three grandchildren, Tyler, Abbi and Drew Coleman; a brother, Henry Coleman and wife, Pat, of Webb City, Missouri; a sister, Loretta Carpenter and husband, J.C., of Joplin; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2014, at the Carterville Cemetery in Carterville, Missouri, with Pastor Bob Dart officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
