William Richard Manley age 78, of Joplin, MO passed away Tuesday November 4, 2014 at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center in Mt. Vernon, MO.
He was born on March 7, 1936 in Harmony, IL the son of Jess Lee and Mary “Miller’ Manley. He was a Veteran serving his country during the Korean War with the United States Marines.
He married Sandra Kay Troegle on April 4, 1956 in Kansas City, Mo, she preceded him in death on July 7, 2011. He worked as a Masonry Tender for several years and then a truck driver for Kelly Truck Line until his retirement. He enjoyed camping, fishing and especially spending time with his family. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son Jay Manley and two grandchildren Dustin Manley and Michelle Manley. Survivors include five sons: William Manley and wife Debbie of Joplin, Richard Manley of Bryan, TX, Mike Manly and wife Janice of Joplin, Randy Manley and wife Joyce of Reeds, MO and Bruce Manley and wife Brenda of Joplin; a daughter Cheryl Manley of Monett, MO, a sister Nada Jean Bledsoe, 23 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday November 10, 2014 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory with his son William Manley officiating. Burial will follow in the Osborne Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary.
