She was born on July 14, 1936 in Joplin the daughter of Gaylon and Reatha Bowers Hammond. Fran was a lifelong residence of Joplin working for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for 22 years retiring in 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Darlene Phillips.
Survivors include a brother; Spurgeon Patton of Florida, two sons: Russell Hay and Randy Hay; two daughters: Lori Hay-Matejcek and Gera Irwin; eight grandchildren: Natalie Hamilton, Angela, GaLynn and Vincent Hay, Jennifer and Kimberly Matejcek, Brant Owens and Tevon Reed; four great grandchildren: Anika and Josiah Hay, Caitlin Boyd and Madison Carmen all of Joplin; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday November 10, 2014 at the Ozark Memorial Cemetery with Chaplin Steve Cooper officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
