Earl Carroll (Corky) Moorehead, age 63 of Joplin, passed away at 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at his home.
Born May 19, 1951 in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late Walter William Moorehead and Helen Marie Mayo Moorehead and was a lifelong Joplin resident. Corky worked as a supervisor at Missouri Steel Castings for over 20 years, then two years for Joplin Floor Design. He was co-owner of C&T Construction Company for 15 years. He loved to make his own wood furnishings and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On February 16, 2007 he married Diana S. Ray in Miami, OK. She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Angie Moorehead of Tulsa, OK, Georgiana Holstrom of Baxter Springs, KS; a son, Christopher Short of Joplin; siblings, Sally Loyd, Billy Moorhead, Norma English and husband Tony, all of Joplin, Elaine Harding and husband Tom of Carl Junction; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Shelby and her husband Lawrence; and brother-in-law, John Loyd.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
