Bertha Elizabeth Boyd, age 74, of Webb City, Mo. passed away at 4:50 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at National Healthcare Center in Joplin following a two month illness.
Bertha was born September 12, 1940 in Earle, Ark., the daughter of Raymond and Lillie Boyd. She had lived in the Webb City area much of her life. Bertha was a graduate of the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Co. and volunteered with the American Red Cross. Bertha was a Minister with the Church of God of Prophecy. She was involved in Mission work for 27 years with American Indians in New Mexico, Arizona and California. She also pastured churches in Columbus, Ks., Pittsburg, Ks. and retired in 2013 as pastor in Delta, Mo. She returned to Webb City then and attended the Webb City Church of the Nazarene.
Bertha is survived by a twin sister, Jane Taylor, Nampa, Id., two brothers, Charles Boyd, Webb City, and Jack Boyd, Joplin, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Bill and Jerry Boyd.
Bertha’s wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Webb City Church of the Nazarene with Pastor David Beard Sr., and Rev. Nathan Haeck officiating. Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Webb City Church of the Nazarene Mission Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home of Webb City, Mo.
