David Vernon Hurst, age 61, of Carl Junction, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at his home.
David was born January 30, 1953 in Oakland, California, son of the late Vernon Wilford Hurst and Yvonne Mae Beik Hurst. He grew up in California, his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and then back to California where he attended high school in Fresno, California.
He met his wife, the former Ana Maria Glenn, and they married on August 14, 1972 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved to Carl Junction in 1982.
David worked as an auto mechanic and auto body repairman, was a professional driver for several years, and most recently was a property manager dealing in real estate for the past several years.
His biggest passion, other than his family, was his love of dirt track racing. He was the points champion in the 1996 Truck Class at 66 Speedway. David was quick to share his racing knowledge with many up and coming drivers throughout the years.
In addition to his wife, Ana, David is survived by his children, Sherri Babb and husband Mike of Joplin, Michael Hurst and wife Sinem of Wellington, Florida; grandchildren, Kolton Babb and Leevi Babb of Joplin, and Bora Hurst of Wellington; sisters, Jan Donis and husband Steve of Stockton, California, Leandra Villarreal and husband Andy of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Memorial services will be Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel, with visitation to follow.
