Peggy L. Koehler, age 89 of Joplin, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin and went to be with her heavenly Father whom she came to know as her Lord and Savior on April 22, 2014.
Peggy was born February 17, 1925 to the late Oliver and Marie Donohue Hotto in Conlogue, Illinois. She later attended nursing school and received her Registered Nurse license. She was proud of her time in nursing but she really enjoyed being a homemaker for her husband and children. Peggy was very active in many clubs such as past president of the Women's Club, Bridge Club, volunteered for the St. John's Auxiliary, a past Cub Scout Den Leader and also supported the local cultural and visual arts.
Peggy married Dr. John Koehler in 1949 in St. Louis, MO who preceded her in death in 1983. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Oliver King Hotto and William Ralph Hotto.
Additional survivors include sons, Rev. John Koehler and wife Ellen of Joplin, Lawrence Robert Koehler of Phoenix, Arizona; adopted son, Jorge Leyva of Joplin; grandchildren: John Koehler III, Kathryn Koehler Harryman, Joel Koehler and Robert, Rex and Quinn Koehler and fifteen great grandchildren.
The graveside service is planned for Friday, November 21, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. to be held in the indoor chapel at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Joplin Church Alive with a reception to follow.
