Charles “Charleroy” Leroy Osborn, 77, of Mt. Vernon, MO passed away at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2014 at his home.
Charles was born September 28, 1937 in Sarcoxie, MO. He was the son of Ralph and Ruth “Cole” Osborn. Charles graduated with the class of 1955 from Carterville, MO and served in the United States Army and the United States Marine Reserves. He was a truck driver for Roadway, 27 years and a farmer. Charles was a very proud member of the Teamsters Union and the American Legion. He loved to fish, hunt, garden, home canning and just being in the outdoors.
Charles was united in marriage to Kathleen Martin on July 1, 1995. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Clinton Tavenner and his wife Jennifer of Mt. Vernon, MO and three daughters; Sheila Ogle and her husband Randy of Sarcoxie, Rhonda Brockelman of Joplin and Tasha Tavenner of Mt. Vernon, two brothers; David Osborn and his wife Jeanne of Carthage and Ralph Osborn, Jr., and his wife Jadeen of Bristow, OK, 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters; Bonnie Borland, Doris Waddell and Helen Osborn.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Curtis Cemetery, Carthage. Contributions may be made to the Morningside Baptist Church in care of the Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.ulmerfh.com.
