Velda Louise Johnson, age 93 of Dardanelle, AR, formerly of Joplin, MO, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Dardanelle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 27, 1921 in Watertown, SD, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Vera Dellman Haraden. Velda lived in South Dakota until moving to Joplin in 1978 and to Dardanelle in September, 2014. While in South Dakota she was an active bowler and wrote a bowling sports column for the Watertown Public Opinion. In Joplin she was a baker for Deem’s Family Center Grocery until she retired.
Her husband, Robert Johnson, preceded her in death November 15, 1994.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mary Helen Johnson of Joplin and Erma Steadman of Houston, TX; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Graveside services are planned in the spring at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown, SD.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the mortuary.
