Jerome Albert “Jerry” DeGonia, age 59 of Carl Junction, passed away at 5:03 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born December 3, 1954 to the late Joseph Albert and Mary Lou Richter DeGonia in Bonne Terre, MO. Jerry worked for Able Body Manufacturing in Joplin before retiring several years ago due to ill health. He worked hard and was determined his entire life to keep going no matter the difficulties he faced. Jerry was a Christian and attended both Servants Church and Three Points Full Gospel Church.
Jerry married the love of his life, Janet E. Brown, on July 5, 1975. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Heather Lee (Shane) of Carl Junction; sons, Chad DeGonia (Ashley) also of Carl Junction, Justin DeGonia (Holly) of Diamond, MO; sisters, Irene Carrier of Joplin, Linda Smith (Mike) of Carterville, Shelly Ebbs (David) of Joplin; brothers, Carl DeGonia of Bonne Terre, Emul DeGonia of Carthage, Larry DeGonia (Joyce) of Joplin and Ray DeGonia (Suzy) of Joplin; six grandchildren, Zach with fiancée Sydney, Hannah, Loren, Jessi, Annabelle and Jensen; great-grandchild, Asher; father in-law, Riley Brown of Carterville plus many extended family and friends that will dearly miss Jerry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Shane Lee; one brother, Paul David DeGonia; his mother in-law, Carolyn Brown and a very special cousin, Ray Dean Glore.
Services are planned for 10:00 a.m. Monday at Joplin Family Worship Center. Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, also at the church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
