Peggy C. Parrish, age 87 of Joplin, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at her home.
Peggy was born July 18, 1927 to the late Claude and Myrtis Simmons McDaniel in Red Springs, North Carolina. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After her husband’s retirement in the military they moved to Joplin where she worked for the Missouri Department of Revenue. She retired at age 65 with 30 years of service. Peggy enjoyed the beach and relaxing on the sand. She was a great cook and enjoyed spending time with her family by the swimming pool. For over 50 years, she and Bob owned and operated Bob’s Furniture Gallery in Joplin.
On January 7, 1951 she married Robert R. Parrish in Bennettville, South Carolina. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2009. She is also preceded in death by one son, Bob Parrish and all of her siblings.
Surviving Peggy is her son, Mark Parrish and wife Carla of Joplin; grandchildren, Rose, Sara Anne, Robbi, Andrea and Zach; great-grandchildren, Brynnleigh and Gunnar; many nieces, nephews and great friends that will miss her.
A memorial visitation is planned for Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at Parker Mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
