Julius James Rosewicz, age 73, Joplin, passed away at 6:22 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at Mercy Hospital.
Julius was born April 30, 1941 in Barry County, Missouri to the late Michael S. Rosewicz and Sophia Stipp Rosewicz and had lived in the Joplin area since 1963.
Julius graduated from Wheaton High School; Joplin Junior College and John Brown University.
Julius began his career with King Press over 50 years ago as a press man. He worked his way to become the vice president of customer service, retiring just a month ago due to ill health. He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; Elk’s Lodge #501; the Missouri Southern State University Alumni Association and a longtime Lionbacker.
Julius was a 22 year veteran of the Missouri National Guard and retired from the 203rd as a staff sergeant.
He married Loretta Graskemper on December 29, 1962 in Sarcoxie, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Michael J. Rosewicz, Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, John M. Rosewicz, Jana M. Rosewicz, Megan J. Rosewicz; two sisters, Joanna Sperandio, Verona, Missouri, Wilma Seufert and her husband, Glen, Pierce City, Missouri; one brother, Emil Rosewicz, Monett, Missouri; several extended family members and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Julius was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Lynn Rosewicz; two brothers, David and George; and a sister, Delores Rosewicz.
A funeral mass is to be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Fr. Justin Monaghan will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with a visitation to follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
