Paula SuEllen Buchanan, age 62, of Lamar, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 26, 2014 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.
Paula was born May 25, 1952 at Moberly, Missouri, one of the four children of Leland and Berniece (DeRigne) Williams. After graduating from Moberly High School, Paula earned a degree in business accounting from Moberly Area Junior College. She worked for many years in several capacities for Mid America Building Supply in Moberly. On July 7, 1989, in Moberly, Paula married Mike Buchanan and they moved to Lamar in the fall of 1998. She continued her career in accounting in Lamar, working for Barton County Health Department until failing health forced her to retire in 2013. Paula was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Mike, of the home; her son, Joseph Patrick “J.P.” Sharp of Branson, Missouri; a step-son, Lance Buchanan, Sturgeon, Missouri; a step-daughter, Brenda Moore, Kaukauna, Wisconsin; a brother, Charles Williams, Mount Vernon, Ohio; two sisters, Marian Williams of Hannibal, Missouri and Nancy (Tim) Hotle of Marietta, Georgia; and five step-grandchildren.
Honoring Paula’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29th at Daniel Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Barton County Memorial Hospital or Hospice Compassus in care of the funeral home.
