Velma L. Williams, 83, passed away November 12, 2014.
Velma was born September 9, 1931 in Sarcoxie, Missouri to William Joseph Williams and Bernice (Pauley) Williams. Velma was a partner and bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Henry Williams Hauling. Velma was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and Alter society. She and her husband worked many years with the Elk’s Lodge annual Christmas program where she made Christmas dolls and their clothing. She loved her family and her dog Midget.
Velma was united in marriage to Henry N. Williams March 1, 1947 they were married for 67 years, he survives. To this union came seven boys that Velma always bragged she raised seven good boys, Roger D. Williams (Roberta) of Carthage, William Mike Williams (Rhonda) of Carthage, John R. Williams of Carthage, Mark Douglas Williams (Melissa) of Carthage, Thomas W. Williams (Debra) of Avondale, AZ, Robert E. Williams (Margaret) of Carthage and Henry J. Williams of Sarcoxie.
Velma is survived by 22 grandchildren 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, two sisters Carol Hall of Granby and Norma Cantu of Wichita, one brother Nelson Williams of Joplin. Velma was preceded by her parents, two grandchildren Bobbie Tender, and Henry Thomas Williams, two brothers, one sister and two sister -in- laws.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday November 17, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home; Visitation will be from 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. Sunday November 16, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Park Cemetery Carthage. Contributions can be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the St Ann’s Church or your favorite charity in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
