Bedah Alice Wilson, age 76, of Carterville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Galena Nursing Center in Galena, Kansas.
Bedah was born December 5, 1940 in Joplin, Missouri, to the late Charles and Martha (Potter) Wilson. She was a 1958 graduate of Chaffey High School in Ontario, California. On April 3, 1960, Bedah was united in marriage to Ted Mize in Ontario and to this union one child was born. She then continued her education, graduating from Chaffey College in 1985 and Sacramento State University in 1995. Bedah retired as a Vocational Instructor from the California Department of Corrections.
Bedah moved to the state of Oregon in 1995 to care for her parents, where she resided for 10 years before moving back to Missouri in 2005. Bedah was a member of the First Christian Church of Webb City. She enjoyed both performing and watching shows at the dinner theater. Bedah also loved reading mystery books and providing Meals on Wheels deliveries. She always looked forward to attending family reunions at her brother’s house in California and traveling to New York to spend time with her daughter and grandchildren. Above all, Bedah loved her “little puppy dogs”, Sir and Bear. She enjoyed taking them on walks and caring for them.
Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Alice Beach and husband, George, of Southold, New York; four siblings, Charles Scott Wilson and wife, Evelyn of Oronogo, Missouri, Gene Wilson and wife, Joan, also of Oronogo, David Wilson and wife, Myna, of the state of California and Jane Wilson of Carl Junction, Missouri; two grandchildren, Susan Jane of Southold, New York and Ted Walter of Southbridge, Massachusetts; one great-granddaughter, Hayley Elizabeth; 14 nieces and nephews; and her two beloved Chihuahuas, Sir and Bear.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at First Christian Church in Webb City with Pastor Mike Geisert officiating. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the Chihuahua Rescue Foundation in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City, Missouri.
