William Joseph "Billy Jo" Lee, age 40, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his home after a sudden illness.
Bill was born January 5, 1977 in Joplin, son of the late Michael William Lee, and Joanna Halfacre Johnson of Seneca, Missouri. He attended Joplin Schools, and worked for Amistad Freight as a freight broker. He did this work for years, and also was a salesman at times. He has lived in several locations including Texas, California, and North Carolina throughout his adult life. He returned to Joplin in 2011 after the death of his father.
Billy Jo loved cars and motorcycles, and was an avid racer, mainly drag racing in his custom car that he built. He also enjoyed golf and fishing, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his father, Mike, who died in 2010, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Brandon Lee in 1997.
Survivors include his mother, Joanna Johnson and husband Raymond of Seneca; brother, Jeramie Lee of Joplin; sister, Amanda Lee of Pittsburg, Kansas, and his step-mom, Charlene Lee, also of Pittsburg; nieces and nephews, Cassie James, Dakota Lee, Lacey Lee, Kahlyn Lee, and Alyvia Lee; many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. in Lone Elm Cemetery, east of Columbus, Kansas with family and friends officiating. His ashes will be buried with his father.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
