John Lewis Hubbard, age 78, passed away at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 8, 2017 at his home in Galena KS following an illness.
Mr Hubbard was born September 16, 1938 in Pierce City, MO. His parents were Raymond Albert Hubbard and Lydia Lucille (Hayes) Hubbard. He had lived in Galena most of his life.
He was a truck driver, working 15 years for Yellow Freight. He later worked a period of 4 years as a bus driver for the Bolivar MO schools. John retired in 2005.
He was a member of House of Prayer, Riverton, KS. He had been a Charter Member of the Baxter Springs (KS) Saddle Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, rodeo and horses. His greatest interest was in his family. He was a loving, kind hearted, Christian man.
Surviving is two sons, Raymond Elmer Hubbard, Webb City, MO; Brian Nevins, Kansas City MO; two daughters, Dena Hill (husband, Ronnie) Galena, and Barbara Jean Samuel (husband, Helden), Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Richard Lee Hubbard, (wife, Judy), Joplin, MO and Edward “Joe” Hubbard, (wife, Janet) Riverton; one sister, Mildred Marie Rose, Alba, MO; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; 12 nephews, 9 nieces, including a special niece, Jackie Jean Sofia, Galena.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, John Lewis Hubbard Jr; two brothers, Ralph Eugene Hubbard and Raymond Albert Hubbard JR; and one sister, Katheryn Hean Rash.
John was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena KS for cremation.
The family will hold a reception to celebrate John’s memory from noon to 4 pm, Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the home of a daughter, Dena Hill at 916 W 11th Street, Galena. Pastor Audie Tash will preside.
