Raymond A. Rich, Sr., 82, Neosho, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017.
He was born April 20, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Raymond L. and Nellie Althea (Musick) Rich.
Raymond married the love of his life, Shirley McCale on April 3, 1953 and they recently celebrated 64 years of marriage. Together they raised five children. Raymond had a 22 year career in the Army serving in the Korean War and three tours in Vietnam. After retirement he served on the Kansas City Police Department, Chief of Police in Plattsburg, MO and various other positions in law enforcement. He also became a licensed barber and opened and operated his own shop. Later in life, Raymond became a Pentecostal Minister and served as State Chaplain for the American Legion, and also served as an advocate for many disabled veterans.
He is survived by his children, Ray Rich, Jr., Goodyear, AZ, Rhonda Henson, Platte City, MO, Joyce Minor, Dardeen Prairie, MO, Yvette Frischmann and Dianna McCarter, both of Neosho, MO, and their spouses; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Linda McCale, Kansas City, MO; an aunt from California, Jean Hammer and several brothers-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews from extended family.
Services with full military honors will be held at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS on August 7, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of Raymond be made to their church, The Cove Mission of Hope Church, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O.
