Bryan L. Sims, age 46 of Monett, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Bryan was born on December 30, 1973, in Springfield, MO son of David and Susan (Atwell) Sims.
Bryan graduated from Monett High School with the Class of 1992. He was in a band during high school and was known as "the fridge" while playing football for Monett. He attended MSSU in Joplin in computer information systems.
Bryan was a long-time employee at Price Cutter in Purdy, Monett and Mt. Vernon. He enjoyed computer programming and his favorite place to visit was the beach. Other hobbies included collecting and rebuilding guitars, collecting Star Wars figures, creating computer videos and movies. He also spent time building computers.
Survivors include: his parents; his life partner, Sue Carlile; a son, Ian, of the home; two sisters, Kristin Umfleet (Roger) of Monett; and Tiffany Cavazos (Tomas) of Monett; a brother, Tyler Sims, of Monett; Dolores Woodruff, paternal grandmother and a host of extended family members that loved him.
Bryan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, C.E. and Lugene Atwell, paternal grandfather, Frank Woodruff, and his beloved dog, Julie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to his son, Ian. An account is set up at Community National Bank in Monett, MO. Checks may be made out to Bryan Sims with Ian's name in the memo.
Private services are being held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
