Bonnie Jean Olson, age 86, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Mercy of Joplin.
Bonnie was born February 5, 1932 in St. Joseph, Missouri, daughter of the late James J. Stamps and Cora Belle Hart Stamps. She married Stutley R. Olson on August 16, 1956 while he was serving in the United States Army, and they lived in several locations before moving to Joplin in 1972. She worked at Eagle Pitcher and Leggett and Platt in the clerical department. She retired, and spent her time taking care of her grandchildren, which she enjoyed very much. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she worked with the treasury, and also helped preparing meals at the church. She was also an avid artist, and enjoyed painting, especially painting China.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Stutley, who passed away on September 14, 2013; two brothers, Jack Stamps and Bill Stamps; a sister, Virginia Hart.
Survivors include her children, Rosemary Hoagland and husband David of Carterville, Missouri, Paul Olson and wife Sonja of Monett, Missouri; grandchildren, Lauren Selsor and husband Christopher of Oronogo, Missouri, Hillary Mayes and husband Chas of Springfield, Missouri, Stephen Hoagland and wife Jennifer of Kansas City, Kansas, Stuart Olson of Monett, , Emily Kates and husband Garrett of Nixa, Missouri, and Cammie Olson of Monett; great-grandchildren, Madisun Olson, Olivia Selsor, Tristan, Selsor, and Rosalind "Roz" Mayes; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Justin Monaghan officiating. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
