Michael Lee Gregory, age 69, Joplin, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Mercy Hospital.
Michael was born September 5, 1948 in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Alvie Gregory and Ida Louise Manley Gregory and had lived in Joplin since 1980, moving from Huntsville.
Mike served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a quality assurance representative for United Space Boosters, which held contracts with Eagle Picher and LaBarge. He graduated from Missouri Southern State University in 1997 with a B.A. in Business. Mike was an avid gardener and took great pride in the things that he grew. He also enjoyed golfing; fishing; travelling; playing blackjack and spending time with family and friends. Mike was a lover of animals, especially his cat, Emma. He loved all three of his children and will be missed by all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his children, Ryan Gregory, Joplin, Stephanie Gregory, Joplin, M. Jason Gregory and wife, Janell, Columbia, South Carolina; mother of his children, Barbara Gregory; brother, Phillip Gregory, San Diego; sister, Judy Ansley, Austin, Texas; friends, Larry and Nancy McNeil, Ray and Betty Ragsdale, Joe and Wilma Williams, all of Huntsville, Ben and Pat Mitchell, Webb City, Willie Wise, Joplin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by a sister, Maribeth Gregory.
A committal service will be held at Mount Hope Open Air Chapel on April 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
Memorial services will also be held at Bevills Chapel Cemetery, Hazelgreen, Alabama.
As a native of Alabama, it's only fitting to end with, ALABAMA ROLL TIDE.
