Shirley Robinson

Mrs. Shirley Jean Holland-Robinson, 92, of Pineville, Missouri departed this life on March 27, 2018 at McDonald County Living Center, after months of declining health.

Shirley Jean Holland-Robinson entered this life on January 10, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri daughter of the late Robert Edward and Jessie Louisa (Whaley) Fletcher. She was raised in the Kansas City area. After graduating from East High School, her first job was as a stenographer for a pathologist. From there she began working in the receiving department at Sears Roebuck where she would eventually become a credit manager and retired after 40 years. On September 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Charles Ray Holland and together they shared thirty-six years before his passing on June 6, 1986. They adopted a son Paul David Holland and had one grandson Charley. Shirley was a member of the Bader Memorial Christian Church for more than 35 years where she served on the church board and was a deaconess. Later she attended Oakland United Methodist Church in Buckner, Mo.

While attending a grief support group, Shirley met Frank James Robinson and they were united in marriage on October 5, 1989. They lived in Independence, Missouri and together shared thirteen years until his passing on October 5, 2002. Shirley enjoyed a close relationship with Frank’s sisters as well as Frank’s daughters. The couple enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends. Wanting to be closer to family, in 2010 Shirley moved to Pineville, Missouri. In 2014 she entered McDonald County Living Center in Anderson, Missouri.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, two brothers, George Edward Fletcher and Robert Jack Fletcher and a sister Dorothy Lee Appleyard.

Shirley was an animal lover and was a life-long member of the SPCA. She is survived by her nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Graveside service for Mrs. Holland-Robinson will be Monday, April 2, 2018, in Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being directed to the SPCA c/o the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
