Frances A. “Fran” Jones, age 78, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.
Fran was born April 15, 1939 in Allen, Ok. She graduated from Elmore City, Ok. High School where she was an All-State basketball player, She was also named to their all decade team. She also graduated from East Central State College in Ada, Ok. and attended West Texas State University and Oklahoma University. Fran became a school teacher, teaching English and speech in Sunray and Hereford, Texas, Pittsburg, Ks. and Joplin. She moved to Joplin in 1968 where she and her husband owned and operated the Radio Shack Stores. Fran was a member and Sunday School Teacher at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Webb City.
Fran married Ronald L. Jones December 27, 1958 in Elmore City, Ok. and he survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Phil Jones and wife Peggy, Branson, Mo. and R. Scott Jones and wife Ley, Dallas, Tx., one daughter, Stephanie Alumbaugh and husband Pedren, Carthage, Mo., one brother, James Phillips, Elmore City, Ok. and 8 grandchildren; Jeremy, Ansley, Josh, Avery, Krissy, Ben, Lilly, and Aidan.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Webb City with Re. Kyle Beverlin officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Deacons and their wives from Emmanuel will be seated together and serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the Church. The casket will be closed at all times. Memorial contributions are requested to Life Choices in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
