Frances “Marie” Zeltner, age 95, passed away on Sunday March 25, 2018, at the Communities of Wildwood, following an illness.
Marie was born on January 14, 1923 in rural Newton County, the daughter of the late Earl and Grace (Speak) Heck. She attended rural school in Newton County, graduating from Midway High School in 1941. She married Raymond Bea West in 1941, and they had two children. Raymond died in 1959. Marie then attended Franklin Tech and obtained her LPN license for nursing. She worked for local hospitals until 1966 when she went to work at the V.A. Hospital in Fayetteville, Ar. She met and married Ralph Zeltner while in Arkansas in 1970. When they both retired they moved to Carthage, Mo.
Marie became a Methodist at an early age and was a member of the Wanda Methodist Church in Wanda, Mo., She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, and reading.
She is survived by a son, Wallace West and wife Rebecca, Webb City, Mo.; a daughter, Peggy Bea Page and husband Max, Springdale, Ar.; seven grandchildren; and several great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands; her parents; a sister, Dortha; a brother, Hershel; and a grandson, Greg Smith.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Gayle West will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The visitation will be open during regular visiting hours.
