John Thomas Martin, age 16, of Duenweg, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his home.
John was born November 2, 2001 in Joplin, son of the late Tammy Lee Barber Ransom, who passed away on February 29, 2016, and Kevin Thomas Martin of Duenweg. He attended school in Neosho and Joplin, and was currently a sophomore at Joplin High School. He was a very intelligent young man, loved the sciences and astronomy where he enjoyed looking at the sky with his telescope. He was a member of the Boy Scouts, Troop 77 and Troop 34 where he enjoyed his time with his friends, especially the camping trips. He loved being outdoors, and playing his guitars. He was a member of the Nazarene Church of Neosho where he played with the praise band.
Survivors include his father, Kevin Martin and wife Melisa of Duenweg; sisters, Shawndra Wilson and Bobby of Carl Junction, Brooke Martin and Garrett of Goodman, Missouri, Kristin Fleischmann, Megan Ransom of Joplin, Makayla Quattlebaum, Leanne Ransom both of Neosho, Ashli Rustin and Brandon of Wichita, Kansas; brothers, Matthew Ransom and Lindsey Clowers of Cabot, Arkansas, Josh Ransom of San Diego, California, Joseph Martin of San Antonio, Texas, and Tristan Williams of Webb City; grandparents, John Martin and Verna of Joplin, and Glenis Williams of Sarcoxie, Missouri; several aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel. The family will visit with friends following the service at the funeral home.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
