Marland Dee Brown of Southwest City, Missouri, passed away on March 23, 2018, after a long illness. He was born to Vernon and Bertha Brown in Attica, Kansas, on November 29, 1940. His family moved to Gravette, Arkansas when he was two years old and then to Noel, Missouri when he was nine. He graduated in 1959 from Noel High School.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in 1959-1962. He married his childhood sweetheart Margaret Spurling in 1960 and they were married 58 years. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his children Cindy Brown, Barbara Tanner, Jerry Brown, and Julia Christian, six grandchildren: Erica Bent, Christopher Christian, Missy Wallace, Jason Wallace, Cody Wallace, and Dalton Tanner, and five great- grandchildren: Riley Wallace, Marlowe Wallace, Willa Wallace, Remington Bent, and Hazel Wallace.
The youngest of eight children, he was preceded in death by Ted Brown, Violet Carr, Alvin Brown and great –grandson Ryder Blaine Tanner. He is survived by siblings: Harrell Brown, Marie Putman, Kenny Brown, and Della
Johnson. Brother and sister –in- law George and Teresa Spurling and brother- in- law Joe Johnson.
Marland and Margaret had a farm off of MM Hwy for twenty-five years. A builder/carpenter by trade, he retired at the age of 73. He was a hard worker all his life and had a gentle heart for his little doggies.
Marland will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
