Frances Quigg

Mrs. Frances J. Quigg, 87, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday morning, April 25, 2017, while at McDonald County Living Center, after a recent decline in health.

Frances entered this life on February 16, 1930, in rural Daviess County Kentucky, one of nine children born to the late Herman L. and Nanny Pearl (Taylor) Jolly. She was raised and attended school near Utica, Kentucky. On October 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to Hugh Nelson Quigg, Jr. and to this union a daughter and two sons were born. Hugh passed away suddenly on September 15, 1960. In 1975, Frances moved to Anderson, Missouri and purchased the Dairy Queen. After selling her business, she became the Anderson City Clerk, retiring in 1997 after twenty four years of service. Frances was not one for sitting around. She went to work as a morning attendant at Stang’s Travel Center after their opening in September of 2005. She was a member of the Anderson United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Order of the Eastern Star, Red Hatters and was an ESA Diana Award recipient. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles and tending to the needs of her yard and home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a grandson, Stacey Pratt; and seven siblings, Grace, Pauline, Bertha, Bea, Ann, Lena and Herman.

Frances is survived by her three children, Janice Pratt and husband, Jr., of Anderson, Missouri, Stephen O. Quigg of Gardner, Kansas and Jimmie Quigg also of Anderson; two grandsons, Travis Pratt of Anderson and Marcus Pratt and wife Jessica, also of Anderson; five great grandchildren, Kynan, Ashton, Alyssa, Maggie and Lane; a sister, Wilma Higgs of Raytown, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Frances are 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2017, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Pam Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Kyle Smith, Tyler Sherwood, Bill Pratt, Travis Pratt, Marcus Pratt and Lane Pratt. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
